and Open Question: If I never had a movein/move out inspection with the landlord, what can I do? I moved into a duplex in O’fallon, MO… Before we moved in, I had looked at the place with the previous renter. I never did a walk through with the landlord. I leased the place for 12 months. I did break the lease. With discussion with the landlord, that I would not be penalized as long as I covered rent through-out my lease until someone else rented the duplex. I moved out March 15th. They are having someone move in April 18th. So I must cover rent for those 18 days. They told me they are taking $102 dollars out of my deposit to spot paint the place. We never did a move in or a move out inspection. Are they allowed to take that $102 dollars out of my deposit? I think yes, but others have told me no because of lack of inspection. They should have required an inspection before moving in or out. Please let me know your thoughts and if I have a right to argue with my landlord., more

and Open Question: I had a package delivered to my apt (left outside the door) and it was opened when i came home. Who is liable? I had a package delivered to my apartment. When I came home from work it was opened and the contents were strewn over the hallway. Nothing in the package was destroyed, just opened. However, considering the fact that opening mail not addressed to you is a federal offense, who is held liable for this? And what responsibility does the apartment complex have is this ordeal? Thanks in advance…, more
