and Did the agent lied about how much a condo was sold? Is it possible that a condo that is listed as 199 990 $ could be actually sold at a higher price, such as 228 000 $ because of the demand? My mom is telling me the agent lied to me so that I don’t expect low prices when I buy my condo. There is actually 3 other condos listed around 234 000 in the same building. Do you thnink they lied so that If I am interested in the 234000 I wouldn’t negociate too low??, more

I am looking into buying a house and while I am pretty familiar with this town there are still a lot of areas I know nothing about. Landlord re-rented my apartment before my lease was up!? I had an apartment with two roommates in NC. I moved out a bit early to go live with my fiance due to roommate issues. I continued paying rent at the old property (my 1/3 share along with the other two roommates). My other two roommates moved out mid-May after graduating college to go live with their parents. They turned in their keys, but I have yet to turn mine in. The lease ends May 31, 2009. I tried to stop by today (May 30, 2009) to pick up a few things I had left there: a lamp, coffee maker, DVDs, a few personal items. When I opened the door two random people were standing there and had already moved their stuff in. All of my stuff was gone.
I went to the office and was told to return later when the manager is there (Monday).
What I want to know is:
1. Did they have the right to lease out this apartment before the lease ended because I moved out? I had not turned my keys in, and I still had items in the apartment.
2. Do I have the right to retrieve any rent for May, 2009 since they double-leased the property?
3. To what extent can I receive reimbursement for the items remaining in the apartment that the landlord (supposedly) threw away? We have yet to confirm if they are still holding this property, as the manager has this information, not the employee on duty today.
4. Are there other things I should be concerned with here that I need to deal with? Such as filing a police report because the management entered my apartment and essential stole my property?
Thanks for any help!
I’m also not a moron or a jerk, I would be getting the rent back on behalf of all of us.
No it didn’t work like that. We were all the lessors and it was my roommate who told me i had left some stuff their by accident. Furthermore, it didn’t matter if my roommates gave them permission to rent the apartment out, they didn’t ask for my permission and I’m 1/3 responsible. That’s besides the point though, the apartment still received double rent for the end of may which as far as I’ve been able to tell is illegal.
My apartment can be used for a storage facility if I paid the rent for it! I think you guys are missing the point. It didn’t matter if I wasn’t living there, I still had stuff there, and I paid rent to keep it there. My lease legally states its until may 31st. The landlord had no right what so ever to enter the apartment before then and then turn around and rent it out again before that time was even up. Seeing as the rent was paid through then, it also wasn’t “abandoning” it., more
