I am currently living with 4 other people in a house, about 2 months ago I told everyone that I was going to be moving out and they had no problems (especially cause the house was quite crowded with 5 people, we had been keen to get it to 4 for a while) the rent would increase by a bit but nothing drastic.
Then about 2 weeks ago 2 of my house mates decide that they want to move out as well, and instead of really telling anyone anything they found a house with another friend and let us know they would be moving in a week.
Now, not only will out rent increase by $60 each p/w but I also can’t move out because the two remaining house mates would never be able to afford the rent.
What are we able to do in this situation?
Will they have to still pay rent or be blacklisted?
Will we able to make sure they don’t get there bond back?
If we have to break the lease because we can’t afford it will we get any bond back?
Any other suggestions?, more

and Shootings at my apartment complex, how to get out of my lease? I live in Portland, Oregon.
I moved to an apartment complex from out of state in March. The apartment is not inexpensive - and was supposedly ‘gated’. It is not gated. There is one gate that opens and closes but there is another entrance without even a gate, and the gates have several breaks in them where you can just walk through.
The day after I arrived there were two police officers outside our apartment dealing with a problem.
I was speaking with the Fire Dept about an unrelated issue, and he asked where I lived and when I told him he said that police officers are supposed to avoid entering our complex unless there are two officers present.
I did some research and discovered there have been TWO shootings within this complex within a year - one that involved a 16 year old being shot, and the suspects fired TWENTY shots into the apartments.
Also, a woman was murdered at the neighboring complex to the left, two men were gunned down in front of our complex, and a man was murdered by his neighbors at a complex to the left. Also, a young girl just DISAPPEARED from the corner by my complex.
I have young children, and this is unacceptable to me. Is there anything I can do? I really feel that this type of crime activity should be disclosed. Considering the amount I pay, and the things I was told on the phone via the apartment complex, I would NEVER have expected this….
Is there ANYTHING I can do, even sue, to get out of my lease?, more
Rental lease-confused? What does this mean? HELP!?
Here is a clause from my rental lease that I can’t figure out. Does it mean I can give my 60 days at any time and move in 60 days OR do I have to give my 60 days before the end of the 2 month term? For example…my year lease was up March 31 then it goes automatically into a 2 month lease(60 days)….so it’d be up May 31, July 31, Sept. 31, ect….
Did I miss out on giving my notice? It is June 16th. So, I cant move August 16th right? I would have had to give my notice before June 1, right?
“This lease will automatically renew for a term of 2 full calendar months(60 days) also called the renewal term, at the end date or at the end of any renewal term OR if tenant gives landlord at least 60 days written notice before the end date or before the end of any renewal term. ”
HELP!!!!!!!!!! It is confusing the way it is worded.
See. Well, technically wouldnt the agreed term me the full 2 months? So, if the lease ended May 31st, July 31st, Sept. 31….I would have to have given notice 2 months before these dates. The thing is, I read it as….just give me 60 days and I did that today AND signed another lease at a new place!!! What now?
