My husband and I would like to buy our first home..question about loan?

My husband and I would like to buy our first home. He has been working for a company for the past two years and in February got temporarily laid off. He got called back to work on Monday. My question is..will that lay off hinder our chances for a home loan right now. He makes about 50,000 a year, and I make about 13,000. He declared bankruptcy 5 years ago, but has been working hard to rebuild his credit. His credit score is around 620 and mine is around 680. We were thinking about a rural development home loan. Any advice or answers would be greatly appreciated., more 

and What is the advantage of having a condo verses an apartment?  Is an apartment practical to live in if I plan not to stay at my current location/state. I don’t like my job and currently contemplating I want to live in another state and move. I won’t being moving within the year, it might be a year or two so would it be better to get a apartment but I know a condo is a good investment and I will not be wasting the money away as I would an apartment but is it easier to get rid of my apartment than of a condo. Some advice please., more 

and As a rental property owner what's your horror story?  Friend told me yesterday about the property she just vacated on 6/1. The rented all winter. Went there yesterday to learn they had pet pigs that ate and destroyed all the furniture. They also care for three terminally ill foster kids and didn’t clean up after them when they were ill., more
