do you have to have a permanent job to get a mortgage?

My fiance and I are hoping to become 1st time buyers in the UK. I’ve just got a permanent contract (I’m a secondary school teacher) but he’s still training to be a college lecturer and won’t have a permanent job until next september at the earliest. What are the chances of us getting a mortgage? Any tips would be much appreciated!, more 

and I have an house agreement for one year & i completed two months,suggest me agreement cancellation process?  I am going to cancell my visa and leaving the country,i have given the post dated cheques of quarterly rent to the owner, out of that one cheque already cashed and period up to 23rd of july. if am cancelling visa before 23rd ,can i cancell my contract.what is a procedure, more 

and got a mod on my 1st but cant afford both payment s, 1st and 2nd , 1st and 2 nd with same lender?  havnt signed the mod . its a 40 year @ 4.5 % includes late payments and fees. House is worth maybe 110,000. owe 240000. with 1 st and 2nd what should i do . this is the first offer of a mod with Obama making home afffodable bill. when i 1 st contanted GMAC asked about bill HR 3221 . they said they couldnt help me back then . 12/8 dont know what to do … please help if you can ., more 

Housing help-nearly homeless. please?  I know there are a lot of people who are just taking the…..but I am serious.
I qualify for emergency housing because I’m mentally ‘abused’ by my dad.
It sound stupid but it’s true.
I have a loan to pay and I was made redundant so im using my overdraft to pay my loan at the moment.
I’m going to the doctors tomorrow because I’m underweight because of stress mostly caused at home. (male .24yo. 5ft7 and weigh 8 stone-lost a stone in last 5 weeks)
I told my dad yesterday about this and he said, SO WHAT? I said, ‘I weigh less than mum and shes 5ft2!’ He said, ‘I know, I’ve spoken to her about that and shes going to go on a diet’
He has told me to look for other living arrangements-basically if i don’t get kicked out, things will only get worse-if that’s even possible.
Anyway how do i apply for emergency housing or what do i need to do.
What are my options.
Anything else I should know?

I didn’t want to go into details about my dad so trust me when i say he mentally abuses me.
I have spoken to the bank and they said i can either default on my loan now (screwing up my credit) or wait until i have no more over draft and sort it out then. (i think i need to make another appointment with them) Thanks Nick, and I’ll phone the council.
