Will the government know which property is my primary residence?

Posted by on Jul 03 | Real Estate Investing Chatter

I want to buy a property in Jersey. I currently live in Philadelphia with a rented apartment. I want to continue to stay at the rented apartment and rent out the house in Jersey. The commute from Jersey to my work is realistic. The VA loan must be a primary residence. If I have my bills being sent to Jersey and continue to live in Philadelphia will the government or bank ever find out?
I am a veteran. I to purchase a shore house for the entire family to use. I have not used my VA loan. The VA loan is not free money is basically just a wavier of the down payment., more

and is mls.com a good place to look for houses?  i’m a college student ( therefore newbie @ buying houses) and like everyone else i wanna move to los angelas but i don’t want to fall into the trap of losing money through paying sky high rent for an apartment. the only kind of credit i have is student loans and a little bank credit card through a federal credit union (but i hardly use it). umm….is mls.com free cuz i don’t wanna sign up then be billed for something a month later. are there any other good websites for looking for a house that’s FREE?, more

and When does the clock start ticking in a short sale?  We are waiting to hear back from the seller’s lender (Everhome Mortgage). Originally the mortgage company said it would take 30 to 45 days to make a decision. They’ve had our information for about a month, but just assigned a negotiator two weeks ago. At that point, the lender said they would order a BPO, which would take about a week, and then they would make a decision. So, now it’s two weeks later and the seller’s Realtor is telling me that it will be 30 to 45 days from the time the negotiator is assigned. Does this sound right? What will happen with the closing date set for July 15th? We only have about 3 weeks until our loan rate & insurance quote expires as well.
David, The seller supposedly was in contact with his lender about a BPO before we made an offer on the house 5 weeks ago. The home has been for sale since late February and has gone from $234000 in asking price to $169000.
Our bank ordered the appraisal about 4 weeks ago. I’m checking on the status of that today. So it could be 30 days for a decision and then another 30 until closing? Oh goodness!, more

When will we know if $8000 tax credit for first-time home buyers will be extended to 2010?  I’m a first-time home buyer and am interested in purchasing a home, preferably next year rather than this year, if the $8K tax credit is extended. Does anyone know the timing on when one of the bills is expected to be passed? I would rather know this summer to determine if I can wait or not., more
