renting my house out if the opportunity arises or if I should hold out for a buyer? We still owe on our house, but I keep thinking an empty house will sell faster than one that is lived in. I need to know which way to go on this. It is making me depressed and I don’t know what to do. I’m better at following plans than I am at waiting fr something to happen. What do I do?, more
and Got prequalified for mortgage, survey& appraisal ordered, Was denied mortgage Should I get appraisal refunded? According to real estate agents I’ve questioned, after prequalification for a mortgage they order the survey. If satisfactory the appraisal is then ordered. My appraisal is satisfactory but the mortgage was denied after all this because of insufficient trade lines and the property is not FHA approved. Shouldn’t they have known this after the survey and thus do I have the right to have my appraisal cost refunded? What advocate agency can I go to for help with this?, more

and Should I sign this lease? I’ve been in apartment-search mode for a few months now. I’ve finally pretty much decided on one that isn’t the most ideal but is so cheap that I think it’s worth it. I’m supposed to sign the 1-year lease next week, but now I am getting cold feet.
I have the following misgivings about the apartment:
1. A very old building with very flimsy doors that could get easily kicked down.
2. Cramped space
3. No pets allowed
4. Inflexible, irritable landlord
5. Not the best area, but not the worst either
6. Apartment door opens directly into the street, which feels less safe than in a complex
Aside from that though, the apartment is in a very ideal location for work, and is very cheap for that location.
I hesitate to cancel the lease-signing because I have become friendly with the current tenant, and she really needs me to take over her lease or else her life has to be placed on hold while she finds another tenant. Also, it’ll take a long time to find another apartment, and frankly I just want to settle down already. Opinions?, more
