I’m looking to move into an apartment with a friend. They’re 700 for a two bedroom, plus hydro. Just curious, when do they typically want you to give them the first and last months rent? RIGHT when you move in, like on the first of the month (its available sept 1)? Or, when you agree to move in and sign stuff (whenever that would be, say a few weeks earlier)…I’ll have the 700 available on August 28th – no sooner though, looking at a place for Sept 1st (that’s only if my friend has furniture, waiting for him to reply to me soon)…if not, then I’ll have to save for furniture…annnnyway, thanks for any info you guys can give me.
It wont be 1400 for first and last – it’ll be 700 from me and 700 from my roommate. It’s 700 per month, 350 each., more
and Is it wise to break the lease? My mom is wanting to leave her apartment because of mold. From what she has told me the mold started after a few days of heavy rain and has been a problem for three months. She reported it to the management when she spotted the mold in the corner of the ceiling, but the thing they did was paint over it and tell her it was only a dry mold and nothing to worry about. After a few more weeks of rain the mold spread headily in the ceiling and began to show in her hallway, living room and a bedroom. Again it was reported and again they painted over it.
The rain came again and a few days later so did the mold in the walls. I told my mom that mold is mold and that she should take pictures of the problem and report the management for failure to take care of the obvious leak and mold problem in her unit. Instead she refused to pay rent until something was done. The maintenance crew only started taking serious action in fixing the problem with the leaks and mold after mushrooms spouted in the walls. So far its been a month since my mom paid her rent and the management has given her notice that they will take action against her if she doesn’t pay. Should she pay even though the problem has not been fixed or has enough time passed that it should have been taken care of and she break her lease?, more
and how do i get info on a tenant that has just moved in? , more
what are the tenants legal rights in tn? the owner of the building showed me an apartment. i liked it. then after i signed the lease she told me she will give me another apartment. but it was ugly and full of roaches and their eggs. i am low income, the owner gave me a chance to pay the deposit (300) and the rent in 4 payments. that is why i was shy to tell her i don’t want the ugly apartment. i figured i can just clean it and kill the roaches. but they keep coming and a big peace of ceiling fall on my back. the carpet is horrible and bad for my 1 year old. She was gonna give me a new one but now wont. so im moving but she wants me to pay her rent and wont give up my 300 deposit when she was the one who gave me the horrible apartment. im leaving the 10th, i don’t have to pay the whole rent. plus i told her i was gonna let her keep my 300. and 300 for ten days is a lot. plus she got mad at me and told me to leave knowing me and my son had no where to go. and now that i want to go she wants ne to pay. what can i do. don;t i have rights. please respond., more
and As the co-signer why was my Credit Report tapped? I was the co-signer for an apartment in which, my now, former friend, was the Primary Lease Holder.
The Lease term has ended, but I found out by checking my credit report that that last payment for the rent was NSF (a check with non-sufficient funds). Basically, the former friend gave a bounced check.
Up to this point, the rent had been paid on time and in full (I would call into the office and check each month; but this last month, I figured this idiot could handle being honest. Boy, was I wrong!)
The apartment complex sent my information to a collection company. I understand that I am legally responsible for paying the rent in full at that apartment.
But, I had a male friend call in to see if my former friend (the Primary Lease Holder) was also with this collection company. All information was given to identify the Primary Lease Holder…but they couldn’t locate the Primary Lease Holder’s name or information in their database.
Why was I turned over to collections, and not the Primary Lease Holder?
Can I ask this collections company WHY the Primary Lease holder was “let off the hook”? I like to know the details for how they tapped me, but not the Primary Lease holder. I’m preparing litigation actions against the lame former friend so that I can recoup my money, but I want to get all the information from the collections company, so that I can be prepared when court day comes.
By the way: the collections company only put an inquiry, NOT a tradeline on my credit report. And, I was told that since I paid this bill ($200) in full in such a timely manner, that no tradelines will appear on my credit report., more
