my partner is in the Navy and i am wanting to move to be closer to him.
We have spoke about getting a place together,
and was wondering how much i would have to save to be able to go down there to keep me going until i find a decent job.
Keeping in mind that my partner will also be paying for his half of the rent etc, so im not totally on my own money wise.
did any of use move before how much did you save in advance?, more
and Dodgy lady on gumtree? She says flat is £280 AND DEPOSIT IS £400. is this not too cheap for a flat in Aberdeen. Another thing she’s asking for half of the deposit so the flat is still there in August (that is when i said i’ll be there to view it)
I cant surely b asked to pay ANY money before I hav moved in or even seen the flat for that matter?
any advice?

and Can an estate agent enter my flat while I'm not there? I’m moving out of my flat soon and the estate agents are holding viewings and they have told us that they can come in and show the flat without us being there? Are they allowed to do this? It has happened on a number of other occasions as well when they have sent people to fix things such as heating, they told us they would give the repair man a key to let himself in. Are they allowed to do this?! We have had to rearrange our plans a number of times so as to be here when they are coming round or sending people as we do not feel comfortable having people in our flat when we are not there. On one occasion they called us and told us they were coming to inspect some damages we had reported, when we said we can’t now they said it doesn’t matter they are on their way and they have a key to let themselves in.
OK it’s fine when they give me at least 24 hours notice but today they gave me an hour! Yes an hour! On other occasions they didn’t let us know until they were on their way!
Oh and they just turned up once as well., more
Can a flat in aberdeen be really £280? I saw it on gumtree,and this woman Iv been emailing is sayingId stay there alone. It seems cheap for it to be my own flat.
Another thing that worries me is this email she sent.
“Okay good to hear that you love those pictures and you sound like a nice person who i will like to give out my flat too, so can you just pay half out of the deposit so that the flat can be yours still you arrived and Please note that the deposit made is fully refundable should in case you finally gain entrance to the house after receiving the keys and documents and feel unsatisfied or uncomfortable with the interior,but i am giving you a benefit of doubt that you will love everything about this lovely home…

I can pay a deposit or even half of that since i havnt seen it. i understand she says its to keep until august. (im in edinburgh working then i return in augst before uni starts.)
Whats your view on the paying half the deposit before i have viewed it? to me it sounds dodgy.
