UK – question about buyer a first time house?

As first time buyers, what do we have to pay for and how much?
Do we have to pay for all the house surveys or is that included in the HIPs pack?
What is included in the HIPs pack?
Any advice and i will be grateful

tell me everything about the $5000 rebate from IRS on 1st time home buyer?  A mortgage company told me this:
1. Even though I have owned a mobile home all my life, I’m eligible for the $5000 rebate since I’ve never owned my own land and have always rented lots. TRUE?
2. If I buy here in 2009, I can ammend my 2008 return and get the rebate this year? TRUE?
(it seems like a home purchased in 2009 would go on the 2009 return, but hopefully the mortgage company is correct), more 

and advice on a rented property?  I’ve just moved into my rented property with my partner only to find the back boiler is completely packed up so we have no hot water and no heating and no gas safety certificate was issused. When we told the estate agents they said it was up to us to get the saftey certificate and the landlord said he will get it fixed but it will take 6 weeks until then you have to use the immursion heater!!! which is well expensive and a real pain, so i am getting quotes to see if there is anyone who could do it quicker which should actualy be the estate agents job but im just fed up! To top it all me and my partner have had our hours cut so its going to be really difficult to live off the immursion. I have got legal advice and they said I have got a case but its all the costs that go with it. Someone please help!!! x, more
